Alison Takamiya: A Legacy of Excellence on and off the Course

It’s hard to capture the full story of Alison Takamiya’s college golf career — not because there isn’t enough to say, but because there’s so much to celebrate.

Over the past five years, Alison didn’t just play the game. She redefined excellence in it. A fierce competitor, a humble and grateful leader, and a caring teammate, she leaves George Fox University as one of the most decorated and respected student athletes in Division III women’s golf history.

A Career of Firsts, Records, and Championships

Let’s start with the numbers — and they are staggering:

  • Back-to-Back Ping WGCA National Player of the Year (2024, 2025) — the first time

this has happened in Division III women’s golf in 17 years.

  • Finished the 2024 and 2025 seasons ranked No. 1 in the Nation

  • Five-time First Team All-American — a rare and elite achievement.

  • Member of 2023 National Championship team

  • Five top-10 finishes at Nationals, including:

    • 2024 Individual National Champion

    • 2023 National Runner-Up

    • 2025 Third place finish

  • WGCA Academic All-American Scholar every season — showing her excellence in

the classroom as well as on the course.

  • Northwest Conference (NWC) Player of the Year — four times.

  • 22 career tournament wins, including five this year, and a 2nd-place finish in a

    Division I event

  • 2024 LPGA Portland Classic qualifier, appearing on the Golf Channel with a

highlight-reel chip-in as the Low Amateur.

  • 2024 Division III Juli Inkster Award Winner (2024)

  • 2024 DIII Honda Athlete of the Year Award Finalist

  • 2024–25 George Fox Female Athlete of the Year (shared with teammate Makensie)

  • 2024 Ad Rutschman Small College Female Athlete of the Year

  • 2022 US Women's Amateur qualifier regional medalist

  • In 2025, set a single-round GF scoring record (7-under par) and tied the two-day

    individual record (7-under par).

More Than a Champion

As astonishing as her stats may be, Alison’s true greatness lies in who she is beyond the

scorecard. She never missed a practice or a team meeting. She gave rides to teammates, helped design gear — including the Westbrook Invitational T-shirt and a special team sweatshirt — and served as a trusted team captain. She was an active part of the team’s holiday food drive and a quiet force of encouragement always.

“She always listened, and always grew more,” says her coach. “She took in every lesson and found a way to be better — and in doing so, she lifted everyone around her as well.”

Her defining moment may have come in 2023, when the team’s “A-Money” sank the final putt to win the National Championship for George Fox. That moment — full of pressure, pride, and purpose — summed up everything Alison brought to the course: poise, precision, and passion for her team.

A Lasting Impact

Alison’s legacy goes far beyond wins and records. She’s been a model of integrity, leadership, and humility — always lifting others while pushing herself to be better.

And yes — Alison loves fashion, Taylor Swift, and good music. She brought as much joy to the van as she did to the leaderboard.

She will be remembered not just as one of the most successful Bruins ever, but as one of the most beloved — a true teammate, a relentless competitor, and an inspiration to all who follow.
